It is now time for us all to unlock that missing third of our days. Richard Wiseman is based at the University of Hertfordshire and holds Britain's only professor for the Public Understanding of Psychology. For years the self-development movement has focused on improving people's waking lives. Carrying out his own nocturnal mass participation studies along the way, Wiseman presents the definitive guide to the surprising new science of sleep and dreaming. Professor Richard Wiseman journeys deep into this dark world and meets the vampire-like scientists who go to work when everyone else is heading for bed. Until now, these discoveries have been restricted to academic journals and University conferences. ![]() This work has resulted in a series of remarkable techniques that can help people to recognize dangerous levels of sleep deprivation, get a great night's sleep, avoid nightmares, learn in their sleep, take productive power naps, decode dreams, and create a perfect nocturnal fantasy. For the past sixty years, a small number of scientists have dedicated their lives to studying the sleeping mind. In fact, it is the busiest time of the day. The idea that millions of years of evolution resulted in this ability for no reason at all is ludicrous. Almost every animal enjoys some form of sleep. Yet every human on the planet spends several hours each day asleep. A time when we are literally doing nothing. ![]() ![]() ![]() Encouraged by mommy wine culture, drinking may become an essential part of a mom’s life, even during the day. Moms who lack the coping skills and support networks to adjust to their maternal roles, or to meet the constantly shifting needs of their kids, may rely on alcohol as a way to find relief. However, this trend perpetuates the idea that alcohol is a solution for overwhelmed, isolated caregivers, which can be harmful for parents and their whole family. Sharing the message that “mommy needs wine” is perhaps an attempt to say “being a mom is really hard” in a socially acceptable way. An article in The Atlantic highlights the role of the internet in the growth of the wine mom movement, enabling the proliferation of memes like “the most expensive part of having kids is all the wine you have to drink.” 1īehind the cheeky wine glasses and internet enthusiasm, mommy wine culture may stem from a desire to validate the struggles of moms and build community. She may also make light of her reliance on wine, and use it as a way to bond with other moms. The term “wine mom” is generally used to refer to a mom who drinks wine as a way to cope with parenting. ![]() ![]() ![]() “If you look at Germany in the early 1930s, massive economic downturn and collapse, people angry, people looking for someone to blame,” he says. ![]() Rose streams CNN on his phone Rosenberg contemplates a Trump presidency. ![]() In the car on the way to Exchange LA, fear starts to set in. “When you have a client that’s so passionate and committed to certain social causes,” he says, “that makes it all the more worthwhile.” Throughout the election cycle, he’s conversed with clients about America’s political future, discussing how the world could soon change. My issue was more w/ the way these characters were cast/directed/edited than with the actors themselves, because I felt like they all did an excellent job. I liked most of the actors, tho there were a couple roles that didn't quite "fit" for me. I absolutely loved how Josie's wardrobe changed throughout the movie as she dropped her shields & became comfortable finding the real her. It truly helps! Now, with that background - they did a decent job w/ this adaptation! Location & costuming were EXCELLENT. They'll never get it exactly right! (The one exception to this, in my experience, was The Pelican Brief by John Grisham.)
